At least once a week, someone would telephone us and as, "How much will it cost to frame a picture?" Well, obviously, we needed to see the picture and find out how elaborate the customer wanted the frame to be. Would it be wood? Gold? Was it 8x10 or 24x36? Did they want the picture matted?

Just as frames vary, so do Web sites. You may need just a simple site to give your business or organization a Web presence, or you may wish to have an elaborate and complex, graphics-intense site with a database or a shopping cart. Each fee is customized along with the Web site design.

Web sites are unique entities and each one has individual requirements. Regardless of how many pages or what sort of graphics you use, you will have two fees that you will pay regardless of who designs the actual site: you must pay for the reservation and registration of your domain name:

Domain name registration: I recommend Dotster, where you can reserve a domain for $14.95 per year.

Hosting Plan fee: Your site is brought to the Internet (and your audience) by a company who places your site on their server. My sites are hosted by Hostlane; hosting packages start at approximately $175.00 annually.

Pages that have graphics, particularly custom graphics, have a higher fee that plain-text pages. Flash animations are priced individually, based on an hourly fee.

Designing for YOU Ltd. requires 50% of the estimated final price of the Web site as a down payment. The remaining 50% is due within 30 days of the completion of the site to your satisfaction. All Web sites need to stay current and be "alive," with updates and maintenance and the fee for updating or changing your site content is $50 per hour.
